Now this is interesting to me. As I pay for a LOAD BOARD, I notice that there are loads needing escorts and there are prices they are quoting to pay. Some are right on the money, some are more and then there are those that are below average.
If the load posts they are willing to pay $1.75/mile... do I take it? Well this is my business and I will take what I see fit. I want to check the route we are traveling, is it an over night, will I have to charge for waiting (The load wants you there at 6am but you don't leave until 9am... wasted time.), will I have to switch back and forth from Lead to Chase? Questions like these are important to define before taking on a escort.
As for me, these are my rates:
0 to 250 miles - $460
250 miles and over - $1.65/mile (Gas goes up, charge goes up) (Chase)
250 miles and over - $2.00/mile (Lead and Chase performed)
Overnight - $100/night
Waiting/Standby - $25/hr
I do have the ability to provide quotes prior to taking on an escort but I am noticing that included step can hinder the process.
But that's that... if I see anything change in pricing, I will let you guys know. (Each state escorts prices differently so take this with a grain of salt.)
Until next time, same bat channel, same bat station.
